What this does
GemClone lets you hear how good AI voice cloning has become, using your own voice. You record a short sample and one consent sentence, Google Gemini builds a copy of your voice, and then you type any text and hear it spoken back in that copy.
The cloning runs between your browser and Google. Your key and your recordings never pass through a server of ours.
Before you start: get a free Gemini key
GemClone uses your own Google Gemini API key. Open Google AI Studio (the link is next to the key box), sign in with a Google account, and create an API key. Paste it into the key box. Tick "Remember on this device" if you don't want to paste it again next time.
How to use it
- Step 1, voice sample: press Record now and talk naturally for 10 to 30 seconds, or choose Use an audio file to upload a clip of your voice.
- Step 2, consent: record (or upload) yourself reading the consent sentence shown on the page.
- Step 3: pick Flash or Flash-Lite and press Clone my voice. If the button is greyed out, the page lists what is still missing.
- Step 4: type what you want said, optionally add a style (for example "cheerful" or "slow and calm"), and press play. Your original recording sits right beside it so you can compare. Use Download WAV to keep the result.
Tips for a better clone
- Record in a quiet room, close to the mic, in your normal speaking voice.
- Aim for 20 to 30 seconds of steady talking rather than a few words with long pauses.
- Use a real recording of a real person. Google rejects AI-generated or heavily processed audio, sometimes with a bare error and no explanation.
- Phones need the https://gemclone.dirtsimple.app address for the microphone to work.
Your privacy
Your API key and recordings stay in your browser and are sent only to Google to do the cloning and speaking. They never pass through our servers. If you tick "Remember on this device" the key is saved in this browser only; untick it to forget it.
Common questions
Does this cost anything?
GemClone is free. Google's Gemini key has a free tier; any usage beyond that is billed by Google to your key, not by us.
I got an error.
The error message is copied to your clipboard automatically, and there is a Copy error button. The most common causes are a wrong or expired key, a sample that is too short or too long, or audio Google thinks is not a real human voice.
Can I clone someone else's voice?
No. The consent sentence must be read by the same person as the sample. Only clone your own voice, or a voice you have clear permission to use.
Is my cloned voice saved?
No. The clone lasts for this session only. Close the page and it is gone; clone again next time.
